Golf Balls Abound from Poland

A radio station in Poland has opened a web site, which enables
internet users to send virtual golf balls to Western politicians who
did not attend President Lech Kaczynski’s funeral last Sunday.

The golf ball campaign follows The Washington Times reporting that
President Barack Obama, who had planned to attend the presidential
funeral but cancelled his visit to Krakow due to volcanic ash cloud,
was playing golf while the Polish president was being buried. A golf
ball, RMF FM claims, has become a symbol of absence.

In order to send a virtual golf ball internet users need to fill in
the form in Polish or English and choose a politician who the ball
should be delivered to, such as the U.S. President Barack Obama, the
President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, the President of Israel Shimon
Peres, the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso,
the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, as well as
Italian and Spanish embassies. (mg)
